Join the Campaign to Fix Politics in Hounslow

People are increasingly frustrated, disengaged, and losing trust in politics because the country no longer feels like it works for them. We need to change that before it’s too late.

Communities in Hounslow deserve proper representation, so that every voter should feel their voice is heard and their vote matters. Our current political system is failing on all these fronts.

When a car breaks down, you don’t just change the tyres - you fix the engine. If we want to fix politics, we need to fix the system that drives it: the voting system.

At a time when the country is deeply polarised and the two-party system has become inexistant, the current voting system is making things worse, not better. Recent local election results highlight this clearly. In Richmond, the Lib Dems all of the seats on just over half the vote. In Hounslow, Labour won 52% of the seats with 33% of the vote. In Wandsworth, Labour secured more votes but fewer seats than the Conservatives.

Results like these show how, at the next general election, our voting system could hand unchecked power to a single party on a relatively small share of the vote - leaving millions of people effectively unrepresented.

Under this system, whichever party “wins” often means a large proportion of the country does not feel represented.

That is why we need fair, equal votes before the next General Election. We need a voting system that encourages cooperation and ensures government works for the whole country, not just the largest minority.

Fixing our politics is not a side issue - it is central to fixing everything else.
