Cllr Dakers is querying junion health minister Ann Keen MP's expense claims for private health care

A detailed review of 'Mrs Expenses' Ann Keen MPs published expense claims has raised further questions this weekend, according to Cllr Dakers, Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Brentford & Isleworth Constituency. In 2003 and 2005 Ms Keen used expenses to pay an accountant to file her personal tax return and in 2005 the junior health minister put in claims for treatment at a private hospital. Cllr Dakers is calling for a full explanation of these claims and, if appropriate, for the expenses to be repaid. He has already called on the Keens to repay the mortgage interest on their second home at Waterloo and use public transport to travel to work from their main home in Brentford.

Cllr Dakers, Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Brentford & Isleworth, said:

"MPs claiming for support in filing their tax returns shows how after 12 years of Labour in power the tax system has got more, not less complicated. But fundamentally these claims are not allowed and the £822.50 claimed should be repaid.

"For a junior health minister - and someone that has been a longstanding and vocal supporter of the NHS - to apparently be giving up on the NHS for treatment as these claims suggest, needs urgent explanation.

"The amount of blacking out of expenses does make one wonder what else has been hidden under this veil of secrecy. We must now wait for The Telegraph to publish the full uncensored receipts to finally obtain the openness and transparency taxpayers deserve."
