Kramer slams 20 percent train fares hike

12.00.00am GMT Tue 20th Mar 2007

Susan Kramer, Lib Dem MP for Richmond Park, has slammed a decision to hike up weekday fares into Waterloo between 10 am and noon from next May.

Reacting to the South West Trains announcement she said:

" It beggars belief that they are pushing fares up by 20 per cent for people who travel during a certain time window into Waterloo.

"Commuters already pay far too high a price for travel which sometimes involves being squeezed into overcrowded carriages at peak times.

"Now to add insult to injury people who consciously avoid the peak period in the mornings are to be punished."
