Susan Kramer, Lib Dem MP for Richmond Park, is backing a campaign to make people aware of scams involving emails pretending to be from their bank. The Get Safe Online initiative aims to tackle the growing problem of customers giving out their account details over the internet following a scam.

Susan Kramer MP said:

" These emails are multiplying by the day and some people are being caught out. Scams make older people more vulnerable or at the very least are unsettling or confusing.

"Some messages imply your account is about to be frozen stressing the urgency of replying to the emails with confidential account details.

"Many protect their computer with anti virus software but allow their guard to drop when they receive cleverly crafted messages masquerading as their bank.

" We all need to be more websmart and to learn the lessons of those who have been caught out."
