Kramer asks for progress report on sewage overflow remedy

12.00.00am GMT Mon 26th Feb 2007

Susan Kramer (Lib Dem MP for Richmond) has asked the government department responsible for remedying sewage overflows from the Thames for a progress report. DEFRA ran a public consultation on its options to deal with the problem and the deadline for responses was the end of December. Since then the MP says she has heard nothing and is seeking an update.

Susan Kramer said:

"Residents in the constituency are very keen to see a solution that deals with sewage overflow in this area. Some of the options on the table only tackle the problems further downstream.

"I am keen to see what DEFRA is now proposing in the way of work to address the issue."
