Linda Nakamura expelled from Liberal Democrats

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 31st May 2006

Linda Nakamura's membership of the Liberal Democrats was tonight revoked. This followed the suspension of her party membership on 4 May 2006. The party's Executive Committee voted unanimously in favour of a motion proposing revocation of her membership.

The grounds for expulsion were her being seen on several occasions during the local council election campaign delivering leaflets for an opposition political party in Hounslow. Under the membership rules of the Liberal Democrats Linda Nakamura is now not able to re-apply to join the party.
