Bedfont Lib Dem councillor John Howliston has welcomed the recent progress in Dave Reader's long battle with Hounslow Council to secure a bright future for Bedfont Sports Club.

John has been helping Dave deal with endless council red tape for several years, the most recent example being the detailed plans for the club's future development which were handed to the council earlier this year.

Dave said: "John's been with us all the way - we couldn't have done all we've done here without him."

John's work has included letters and meetings to help Dave and Terry gain the lease to the pavilion in 2003, liaising with residents worried about the impact of the club on the park, and lobbying CIP in the long battle to get them to seed and cut the pitches properly.

He has also supported the club in the local press.

John said: "This club is exactly what we need to provide sport for all age groups, and its success is down to Dave's experience and to the support of local people."
