Liberal Democrats are proposing the introduction of a graffiti clean-up squad in Hounslow. The proposals follow a campaign last year by Andrew Dakers, Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesperson for Brentford & Isleworth, to encourage volunteer action.

Andrew Dakers said:

"After Sunaina and my inspection of St Paul's Recreation Ground at the beginning of the month I was delighted to take part in the volunteer clean-up at the weekend. However I despair at how much graffiti remains just outside the park - and across Hounslow - which is why I am delighted to announce these plans."

Lib Dem Campaigner Sunaina Kumar commented:

"It is not enough to only clean up racist and abusive graffiti. All graffiti blights the area and impacts residents' quality of life, which is why a Rapid Response Squad is so essential."

The Lib Dems would like the service to be available on a non-profit basis to private landlords.
