Brentford residents plea for end to light pollution3.41.49pm GMT Mon 6th Mar 2006
Brentford residents are still waiting - after more than four years - for floodlights on vast advertising hoardings on the Great West Road to be switched off. The light spilling from the towers at night leaves many people suffering from severe sleep deprivation. Liberal Democrat campaigner Sunaina Kumar says: "Local residents are fed up to the back teeth with night pollution from floodlights on billboards along the A4. It is completely unacceptable that the lights stay on all night and inconsiderate site managers should be subject to ASBOs if they continue to ignore the pleas of Brentford residents." Andrew Dakers added: "Brentford residents should not be deprived of a decent night's sleep. It's about time the Labour council stood up for local residents. It is time for any agreements for the lights to be turned off at night to be enforced."
