12.00.00am GMT Mon 1st Nov 2004

Liberal Democrat Syed Shahzad Akhtar has called for better leisure facilities for teenagers in Heston East. In a letter to Cathy Gallhagher (Head of Planning, London Borough of Hounslow) Syed argues that S106 agreements on forthcoming developments in the area should be negotiated to include funding for facilities, such as a skate park in Lampton Park.

Syed says: "There is not enough for local teenagers to do in Heston and this undoubtedly contributes to the level of vandalism and antisocial behaviour in our neighbourhood. "

"We must give our teenagers opportunities for stimulating and fun activities to reduce the number who are left bored and wandering the streets. "

Facilities such skate parks skateparks are relatively cheap to provide and can be hugely popular with young people.

There are also existing facilities in the park that need urgent repair such as the tennis courts.
